Please join Families with Children Adopted from Asia (FCA) on April 26th as we welcome a panel discussion on searching for more information about our childrens' earliest moments. Some young adoptees and parents want to learn more about the circumstances of their birth. For those who are curious, and those who already seriously search, no clear guidelines exist. Sharing and discussing the information that is available can strengthen the Chinese adoption community.

This discussion is enhanced by learning from experiences with Korea.  We will be joined by Childrens Home Society (Tour Korea) as they share their insights.

Our speaker panel:
Research China
Brian H. Stuy will speak about the adoption program in China and discusses various issues that confront adoptive parents when contemplating or performing a search, or when presenting a child's pre-adoption history, and how individual orphanage programs can impact our child's understanding of their origins, and the the success of a search.
Longlon Q. Stuy will speak about her first hand experiences with different orphanages in China in relation to different patterns and issues, finding and talking with birth families, and how and why birth families in China have come to relinquish their children.
Children's Home Society & Family Services (CHSFS)
Christine Heimann will speak about the services Childrens Home Society offers to Korean adoptees, and discuss the practicalities of post adoption services for Korean adoptees with birthland visits and birth family searches. It is hoped that this perspective can shed light on processes in China.
Julie Hart, LISW
Julie Hart, a Korean adoptee, will speak about adoptee searches for birthparents from a personal perspective, discussing the emotional and psychological effects of searches, in particular unsuccessful searches.
