FCA is partnering with the adoption professionals at EVOLVE Adoption and Family Services for a unique workshop for kids and adults.
Parents and children will explore adoptee personal life histories through Lifebook work. The workshop will include time with both parents and children together as well as separate activity time. Children will work on beginning their Lifebooks with information and documents gathered from home. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss their contribution to their child’s Lifebook and tips for talking to their child about adoption. The workshop ends with a snack and time together as families.
Lifebooks offer a concrete way to gather materials, and also a vehicle for children to understand and own their unique story in an age-appropriate manner. Children will work with counselors and an adult Chinese adoptee in groups from ages 7-9, and another group 10-12 to develop their age-appropriate document.
This workshop requires some preparation for parents and children. A Chinese translator will be on site for part of the workshop to aid parents with specific questions about documents (not full-scale document translation).

Who Should Attend:
Open to FCA Members only. Children between the ages of 7-12 years old are welcome.
Cost: $40 for the first child and $20 each additional sibling
Materials Needed: Please make sure to bring along any materials and documents that are a record of your child’s birth, birth family, place or origin and life prior to adoption, including any information regarding care-takers and places of items of significance.

3. After registering, your name will be checked with the FCA database. Any non -members registered will be asked to withdraw or renew membership prior to the event.
