FCA-Midwest Heritage Retreat

Join us for this one-day family gathering, filled with fun and programming related to adoption and Chinese culture!
Families will have the option to attend the day-time programming only, or stay the night at the hosting hotel. The Holiday Inn Lakeville, which has a central indoor pool and patio area with splash pad, has reserved a block of rooms for our members. Please be sure and ask to have your room reserved with the group!
The final schedule is pending, and will be shared with the group when finalized. The day will run from 8:00-5:00. Lunch and a snack are included in the program fee. Informal and optional poolside bagel breakfast and pizza dinner will be available for those staying at the hotel at an extra charge.
Some program highlights (already scheduled and confirmed) include:
-China Care Club fun for kids - Kung Fu and Chinese Jump rope
-Gao Hong Pipa workshop for kids
-Introduction to Beyond Consequences parenting
-The Ties progam presents: Teens and Tweens--What I Would Tell You if I Could Find the Words
-Workshop for kids with Deb Johnson, LISCW and columnist with Adoptive Families magazine, followed by a parental 'de-brief' and exploration of race and identity
-Genetic counselor to discuss testing for Chinese adoptees (adults)
As other program activities are confirmed, these will be shared with members and participants.
The pricing for the event only * is $35 per person. Thus a family of 4 will be charged $140. FCA subsidizes this low rate. However, if you and your family cannot afford this cost, please contact president@fcamidwest.com as soon as possible. We can explore options to try to make this affordable for everyone who wants to attend.
The total number of people we can accept is 50, including parents and children. Please do not delay in signing up for this event. See below for booking your room (recommended to first register for conference, then book hotel room).

When you book your room, please mention you are with FCA - rooms will be located together and there are some combinations at a discount. You can request a poolside room if you wish.
When you sign in at the hotel, you will receive admission bands to the pool (for family and several for guests); we ask that you contribute your extra bands to the FCA administration. Outside friends are discouraged. This will allow a limited number of non hotel guests to use the pool later.
Finally, your registration is non-refundable. If there is a wait list and we can find replacements for your spot, refunds can be granted.
